The motor from the T3 has an o-ring on the plug. Don't remember if the Eldo
or Ambo had them or not. Will have to check my parts book.

There was no o-ring on the plug...just an aluminum washer.
I'll look at adding an o-ring or a new washer. If there
was a hairline crack, wouldn't that affect compression
too? Mine is a nice 165 lbs. I figure if it leaks oil,
it would leak air too. Just a thought.
Thanks!

Did you replace the o-ring on the head bolt cover plug? Hopefully you don't have a hairline fracture in the head weeping oil. After replacing the lower cylinder gasket, all the o-rings, the head gasket, and the valve cover gasket, I still have a tiny leak of oil coming from what looks like under the head. Yes, I remembered to put in the head bolt cover plug thingy. Doesn't leak bad, just enough to get on my header pipes and look bad and piss me off. Of course, selling her will be easier (not easier for me, but easier to get someone to buy her) if she don't leak. Any ideas? Thanks! Chris in NC 1974 Eldo Civilian (for sale) |
