Here is my experience. I signed up with BAM (Bikers Against Manslaughter)
at Bike Week event in Daytona. Their membership and Emergency Breakdown
Service is free. All you have to do is agree to assist someone else if
you are able. I have yet to be called on to assist anyone.
I broke down outside 15 short of Memphis, generator died. 1000 miles from
home. A passerby with a cell phone let me call the 1-800 number. A
gentleman was there within 45 minutes with a pickup truck and ramp. We
loaded it up. He took me out to dinner, wouldn't let me spend a dime!
"You're in my Town" Took me to a motel near the H*rley shop.
I am sure their reliability could be spotty, but I was sure pleased!
Oh and the rest of the generator story. I walked to a nearby Target store
and bought a battery charger and charged the batter over night. Rode to
the "New" Harley shop the next morning. Well first they said they had a 2
week waiting list for service!!! Then when I mentioned I was traveling on
1965 Electra Glide they were even less interested. "We don't have parts
for anything that old!"
Anyway a mechanic who overheard the exchange came over and directed me to
an after market shop a few miles away. They dropped what they were doing
to get me back on the road. One of the mechanics even took me out to
lunch! Precision V-Twin I Nesbit Mississippi is the place, if anyone
needs assistance in that area. Especially older H*arleys, but I don't
they would leave a Guzzi Rider stranded!
Sorry if I bored some of you with the No Loop bandwidth,
Rick Woods

With this talk of towing services, here's my one experience. I've got
AAA PLUS for the automobiles. It includes up to 250 MILES free towing per
incident, I think twice per year is the limit. Motorcycles are covered on
this. I was riding to the Arizona rally a few years back, and blew a head
gasket in Huntington, Utah(stroked, high compression motor). AAA sent a
flatbed towtruck, let me handle the tiedown straps, and brought me and
the bike home in one piece, no charge. They don't care where you want to
go, as long as it's within 250 miles. Since then I swear by them. Steve
