Mark,
I wanted to do the same thing (install an electronic ignition) when I
was rebuilding my Eldo, and what Alan says is correct. You will have to
use a T3 distributor and you will have to change the worm gear to match
the gear on the Eldo cam. He forgot to mention that you will have to use
2 coils, and the distributor cap will no longer be needed.
After considering the above, I decided to leave the ignition stock,
and am glad that I did. With the existing distributor set-up, timing the
bike is simple and quick, and I think the reliability is better.

The dyna ignition won't fit in an eldo distributor, but Teo Lamers does have an electronic ignition that will fit but it is very pricey. Alan '74 Eldorado LAPD MGNOC 4352 Alan R. I want the extra 100cc in stroke configuration, as well as a 5 speed gearbox. I looked in Guzziology and Dave states that the upper part of an Eldo distributor can be mated to the Ambo's shaft. I'd like to do that to enable the use of a Dyna ignition. Do you have any Eldo distributors for donor parts? Thanks, Mark |
