I have long subscribed to MTS emergency road service. Time to renew. I am
also an AMA member and I see they have a similar new service. I've been
comparing features and costs and may jump ship. Nice that AMA will tow my
vintage Guzzi while MTS will only make the call and I have to foot the entire
bill. Also, AMA will cover my cars and will also cover your bike if you let
me ride it. MTS takes me to the closest motorcycle storage area, even if
that area refuses to work on a Guzzi. In their philosophy, you are off the
road and both you and the bike are safe. Their job is done. AMA will take
me up to 35 miles to any sevice facility at my discretion. All that for a
lower fee as well.
Alone, I probably would not have such service at all. Regina and I have each
only had one bailout in our years as service subscribers. I can bodge almost
anything. However, Regina and our sons ride all of our bikes and are not
quite so mechanically astute. I would like to hear any opinions from users
of either service. Since you may be in a mood to bash a business, I'd prefer
you send me your OPINIONS off the list.
