Fred wondered:
I wonder if the grommets for the holes where the wiring harnesses enter the shell are still available? The parts book doesn't seem to show them separately. |
These are available anywhere, just find someone with a large selection
of grommets and take your shell with you. For the large hole, get one
with the largest id you can, there's lots of wires that go through there.
Since I never had this bike in an assembled state, where does the main harness run under the tank, below or above the frame tube? |
and fits in that little indent in the right side of the neck of your
tank where you bolt it to the frame. Your choke and throttle cables go
here, too. Make sure you don't squeeze anything when tightening the tank
down.
The wiring goes from there along the lower U-shaped frame rail, the
horn and generator wires should poke out of the loom midway, and there's
a ground that connects to the hole in the U-shaped rail (this is the
bolt that holds your cable splitter), use an external tooth washer here
for a good ground.
The main loom follows along the right side of the frame rail, you
can zip tie it here and there to hold it up.
Good luck! Wiring is an adventure. If you do it right, none of the
smoke gets out.
