Top of the Morning to You Fellow Loopers.
I am on another Topica board, the MGNOC Mid Atlantic Region, and this
interesting post/link was just listed. Lots of good info here I thought
you might enjoy checking out. Of particular interest to me was "reading
spark plugs". After searching through the mutliple links, I finally
found one that described what I was seeing on my plug to a T. I have
"Splashed Deposits", and I am near 100% sure it was caused by my
"re-charging" of the K&N filters - they were probably not completely dry
and the massive sucking of the piston intake probably sucked in some
filter oil and deposited it on the plugs as shown in this picture (go to
this link and scroll down to the splashed deposit pic):

I cleaned up the plugs a bit but they seemed stained, so perhaps I'll
just throw in a new set and see if the problem clears up.

FYI:
I have a section with links to all sorts of articles about spark plugs
on the webBikeWorld "Motorcycle Maintenance and Technical Articles" page

Scroll down towards the bottom of the page.

Subject: MGNOC-MA: Bosch spark plug heat ranges
How does the numbering system work?
Is the higher number a hotter plug or the other way around?
Last dealer I purchased plugs from sent me W7DC plugs - Bosch book said
W5DC was the correct plug for the V65sp.
"7" seems to run cooler than the "5".
