The solution to Carbon Buildup by rapid and hard acceleration/decceleration is typically known to automechanics as an "Italian Tuneup". (Fits, doesn't it?) The name came from all the mid-life crisis purchases of European (for the sake of the list we shall focus on the Italian Marques, Ferrari, Lambroghini, Alfa, Fiat,etc..) sports cars. They would be so cautious of the cars that the owners would not drive them hard at all. After periods of pampering, they would take them to the mechanic with complaints that the engine was running rough. The mechanic would take the car for a "Test Drive" which would blow out the carbon and make the car run much better.
My favorite mechanic story was the owner who complained that his european sports car had the worst brakes on earth. Seems he had a circular drive at home and never had to put the car in reverse. Hence the "Self-adjusting" brakes, never adjusted.
