Very simple repair . Bore out the damaged threads ,TIG weld threaded
bush in it's place ,spot face welded area . For those unable to chase a
suitable internal thread, the repair bushing is available from Moto
International among other places.
Now make sure the BRASS exhaust gland nut is TIGHT ,REAL TIGHT ! Most
people use makeshift tools and never get the nut tight enough .
A little High Temperature Permatex brand Anti Sieze is a good idea too.

One guy I know for sure that does it is Moe at Cycle Garden in California. I think it's $100.00 per head. Pricey, but I tell you what, the pic on the website of the work is beautiful. www.cyclegarden.com Kev -----Original Message----- From: Karl Kologiski [mailto:jane-@gte.net] Sent: Wednesday, July 03, 2002 3:04 PM To: Loopfram-@topica.com Subject: striped exhaust port in head A buddy of mine has a 71 Ambo and it has a stripped exhaust port in the head where the collar threads in. Does anyone know who does repairs on these and how much it runs? He was going to take it to a local machine shop, but I told him he should give it to someone who has done these before.
