You can get new nipples from Mark at MG Classics, and probably any
decent dealer (oxymoron?).
Buchanans said they don't have a new nipple to fit the stock spokes:
they use a finer thread and the person I spoke with said the stock pitch
was too coarse and made em hard to tension.
I just built my wheels, first ever wheel lacing attempt, and I was
amazed how easy it is. I popped the heads off a couple of nipples as
well, but when I looked at the break, they had been cracked a long time,
long enough to get dirty and corroded, and the fresh break (clean
metal)was only about 25% of the circumference, so I guess I am glad they
broke while I was lacing them.

Hi Scott, I have a bunch of good spokes and a few good nipples from my Ambo restoration project that you are welcome to free. The nipples have lost most of the original plating, but will function just fine. Let me know how many of each you need and I'll send them to you. Buchanan's spokes and nipples have a different enough thread that they won't interchange with the stock Guzzi ones. I can't remember why exactly, but seems it was something to do with the thread being "cut" on one and "rolled" on the other. Jason at Buchanan's advised against mixing theirs and stock in any case. FYI, a full set of 80 spokes and nipples is $95 from them. Cheers, Charlie. Paul Linn <paul-@attbi.com> wrote:
