Will try that although the leak seems to start under the
carb manifold. Guess I'll hear the throwout bearing
crunching? Is that a big job to replace? I've done a lot
of mechanical work over the years, but never messed with a
clutch. Guess while I'm in there I should replace the
clutch plates and do the 2mm to 4mm thingy conversion too
(can't remember what exactly it is...will read Guzziology
tonight).
Thanks!

I remember the recent discussion about the idle speed
dropping when the clutch was pulled in. What was the
cause of that again? I noticed my eldo does that just a
little bit.
Chris:
I think that one of the reasons was that the throwout
bearing on the clutch pushrod may be going south. You
might put your ear down there while someone else pulls in
the clutch , unless you have very long arms.

Also, can you have an oil leak from the head gasket? I
replaced my o-rings on the top of my right head but it
still leaks a tiny bit between the head and cylinder.
There's a plug that covers the nut (you need an allen
wrench for the nut ) for the short stud on the pushrod
side of the head. Chances are that this is where your
leak starts; a new aluminum washer under it, some teflon
tape, or your favorite hi temp sealer will work.
