Hi Bryan,

I'd recommend using the "venturis." If you don't want to alter your
original parts and want to use individual filters, use the "venturis"
from a Tonti frame bike. They short work with short filters without
alteration, but with the longer ones (such as the R-0640) you may have
to shorten them some (approx. 3/8") for the filters to fit right.

Faced with the same choices as you, I chose to stay with the stock
airbox and a K&N filter (bought off Ebay for $20). I think with the
early style battery covers, the airbox looks better (more stock) than
individual filters. The later covers hide the K&Ns and provide storage
room too!

As for petcocks, the adapters available from Moto International and V65
"right angle outlet" petcocks have worked well for me the last four
years. The adapters will require the removal of the filter screens (use
inline filters) and move the petcocks down about 3/8" (check for
clearance). On the plus side, the V65 petcocks have a reserve position
on both sides. Hope this helps! Cheers,

Charlie

 Hello All,

Again I apologize for asking questions that have appeared in the forum
before. If anyone has any idea on how to get the search function to
work, I will gladly use it and avoid all of the re-hash.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my carb question, got 'em cleaned
and am just waiting on the parts. Can't wait to get it fired up.

My rubber airbox boot is cracked- thought this might be the time to
switch to K+N. I understand that there are a few options
1. Mount K+N directly to carb(with venturis?)
2. use T3 velocity stacks(why and does this require customization)
3. Turn down my own venturis(not sure why- to fit a different filter?)
4. Use the K+N airbox filter
Can anybody let me know which is the best way. I scanned through
umpteen previous pages of this list and couldn't find it. Also, I may
as well ask now--I want to replace my petcocks with some that are good.
These are the worst thing on the bike in my opinion. Does anyone know
of some good ones from a different bike that will work? I guess I will
consider the rebuild route if some knows of a fix that lasts.

Cheers and Thanks,
