Hi Pete,
There's not really any extra thickness, this is just replacement plating for what was once there. Most of the original zinc plating was gone and the rest probably was removed when I cleaned everything up on the bench grinder w/wire wheel. The threads were initially a little tight, but once the nut was run on with a little lube, that went away. They fit perfectly in the wheel bearings as well. Cheers,
