Charles,
Welcome to the family.
Your bike is a V700....an early one from the serial number. From what I
learned V700's started at 1xxx. Ambassadors started with a 5 digit serial
number 12xxx.
As for the valve clearances I would stick with the .006 inlet and .010 for
the exhaust. I do that with my 69 Ambo (with 700 heads) and it seems to work
fine.

my V700 engine is #1296. How do I know if it is an "early V7", and should I drop the valve adjustment as small as Richardson suggests for the early V7s. other signs are a 2 part METAL gen cover, Marelli starter and gen, no in line switch on the original front brake cable, 4 looonngg bolts on each valve cover.. |
