There is an almoet identical item available at Lowe's Hardware that's
much better made, but it has a 1/4" thread instead of 6mm. The triple
clamp/fork caps can be retapped to accept these threads, although the
threads are barely wider and more coarse than the 6mm's.For the top(i.e.
nuts) side, there's of course no problem using a 1/4" nut. Steve Seftel

I think these same rubber mounts are used to hold the early EV computer
to the rear fender. I had most of mine come apart on two EV's and my
dealer says it is a common failure. Like you, I saw that the rubber to
metal bonding was very poor. Not sure the Guzzi replacements are any
better. Does anyone know of some other production substitution?
