Tom,
I was lucky enough to R&R my Eldo's return spring whilst the engine was
out of the frame. I just wanted a look-see at the spring, which wasn't
broken at the time. I removed it whole and when I was testing it in my
hand, it simply fractured in two.
But I had to replace the end cover with the tranny sitting vertically
on the floor just so I could align all the shafts into their receptive
holes. I can't see doing this easily with the tranny horizontal in the
frame....a sure road to madness and dementia.

So here's my brilliant idea. Take a perfectly good Eldo tranny, put in the upgraded *return spring, switch with tranny on bike with the broken *return spring. Undo all the screws, tap with hammer to loosen cover, pull all the gears out!!! Sh*t!! Ship to B.J Schwarts to put back together....... Tom Short AZ MGNOC Rep Phoenix, AZ |
