Rich,
It looks like the PO wired one side of the start button to the battery.
If you look at the cct diagram, there is a red wire which runs from the
ignition switch to the fuse block in the headlight shell, which supplies
+12V when the ignition is on. This red wire makes connection with 5
terminals on the same side of the fuse block. One of these is a
blue/black wire, which should go to the starter switch in place of the
wire to the battery. To find which terminal that is on the switch,
measure the voltage on both terminals with respect to ground. The one
which reads +12V is the one which is connected directly to the battery.

The PO did some funny wiring for an air horn and driving/marker lights on my Ambo. I took out most of his handywork ;-( when I aquirred it. Something that I'm curious about, but always forget to ask about is this. I have the button on the right side of the handlebar for the starter. Whether the key is on or off pushing the button will turn the starter over. It wont start unless the key is turned on but the starter turns over regardless of if the key is in the ignition switch. This doesn't seem to be something that should be normal but nothing else in the wiring looks non standard at this point. Is this normal Thanks, Rich |
