Elisabeth,

Although I couldn't find the torque value for the Eldo axle listed in
any of my various Guzzi references, the G-5 shop manual gives a
recommended axle torque value of 100-108 ft/lbs. My guess is that the
Ambo and Eldo values would be about the same, based on the standard
maximum torque values (for a 14mm grade 8.8 bolt, coarse) that I found
on the following web page:

http://www.norbar-usa.com/ttc/

Personally, (lacking an actual factory spec, and given the coarseness of
the threads) I would probably stick with about 80-85 ft/lbs, in case I
had to get the thing back off with less than optimal tools. But I've
been wrong before!

Usually, if a fastener is not on an engine, trans, or drive, I use the
little known, but oh-so-scientific "grunt pounds" method. 6mm fasteners
get 1/2 grunt pound, 8mm gets one, 10mm gets two, and anything above
12mm gets three "grunt pounds". Sorta along the lines of JB's calibrated
wrist. Put the appropriate wrench on the fastener and tighten it 'til
you grunt once.....there, perfectly tightened to one-grunt-pound! Keep
in mind, this isn't some antique steam engine or a space shuttle you're
working on. Tighten the sucker up and ride!!!!

 Hi,

Hope this is not a stupid question: anyone know what is the torque
specification on the front axel nut for a 72 Eldorado. I looked in
guzziology and the manual and could not find the number.
