Part of my chores yesterday was to tune up the Eldo before the ride.
Set the points and timed it (only burned my right forearm twice!). Now
to set the carbs; hooked up my manometers to the two cylinders. I found
that I couldn't get enough slack where the throttle cables meet the carb
- need 2 - 4 mm. I had to back off the adjustment knob on the cable
splitter all the way down (I did this with the tank on - used a 11 mm
3/8" drive crowsfoot with about a 9-10" extension to loosen/tighten the
lock nut; not much room but the generator cover will flex enough way up
under there to get it done).

After adjust the cable splitter, I found that the throttle cable end
would fall out of the throttle 'entrance' (where the cable-end is
supposed to slip into the throttle on the handlebar) to where it would
hang up on the outside of the throttle 'entrance' at full slack. This
caused all sorts of difficulties in getting an accurate reading from the
manometer. I had to tape the cable to the throttle to hold it into
position - which ain't right.

I've put on a LAPD handle bar with LAPD throttle cable - didn't have
this problem with the stock unit. Defective throttle cable?
