Since you asked:
I sent a pair of T3 instruments to Mr. Levine. Both worked ok, but were
sorta unsteady. "No black bezels, so will polished aluminum do? Ok,
sure."
They came back the first time ($330 later), and the tach was reading
about 3/4 speed, and would drop to the pin at anything under 1800 rpm.
I called, and was treated very rudely, and was told that it certainly my
cable or the tach drive.
No, I said, it read correctly before I sent it in, on the same bike.
"Well, each time we have to open them up it costs us time, and our
profits go out the window, and the bezels can only be crimped on and
taken off so many times."
But it's just not right. Maybe you set the ratio wrong?
"You can send it back, but there's nothing wrong with them if they went
out, because we test them." Serious a-hole attitude.
I sent the tach back, and a week later called. "Oh, we had calibrated
it to the wrong ratio. It's on the way back." No apology for being a
prick.
It came back, and it's close, but it still drops to the peg at a 1200
rpm idle, but I just don't want to deal with the guy again.
YMMV
My experience with Palo Alto has been much better.
