I know that most of the larger chucks only go down to a certain size. I
don't know about Walker-Turner but I would bet that you can remove that
chuck and swap it with a smaller one. Some presses have keys or set screws
holding it in. Some I think have something to do with reverse to get the
chuck out. I would have to see it, take a closer look and I bet you'll see
something. Web page maybe?

I've got a Walker Turner 15" bench drill press with a 1/2" chuck. My
problem comes when I want to drill a small hole; the chuck 'fingers'
will not contract far enough to grab the small drill bits. Is this the
way the chuck is supposed to work (could be a defective unit since I got
it 'well' used by the previous DPO; the shaft was bent) or do I need a
smaller chuck to chuck into the larger chuck??
