Did you try to put the axle through? It's been a while since I looked at my wheel but I'm thinkin' part of the axle acts as a spacer. Might be the rear though, might be another bike altogether, but try it before disassembling everything. Kev |
tried them both, neither helped. I'm pretty sure that the shorter one is
for the front.

it's possible the triple trees are not lined up. slacken the 2 lower TT bolts & twist the fork legs. see if it's possible to make them line up that way. there will be a gap between hub & left fork slider. this is taken up by the thicker part of the wheel spindle. cookie |
bolting the lower triple tree to the forks and putting the upper tree
in place (on my bench) is that the steering spindle is about 1/8" off
center of the hole in the upper triple tree. When I had everything on
the bike and the steering spindle bolted on, the fork tubes were about
1/8" out of alignment from the upper tree, and I had to really fight to
get them through the upper tree. What I've surmised from this is that
somehow the lower tree is tweaked. I checked the fork tubes with a
straight edge and they're fine.
So, the project is momentarily stalled until I find another lower
triple tree. ANYBODY OUT THERE GOT ONE THEY WANNA SELL CHEAP? Or
reasonably? I'm really in need here.
