Hi Pete,
My '69 does it ocassionally also, just once in a while at idle. There
doesn't seem to be any pattern of when, it does it just as much after a
tune-up as just before it needs one. I'd check the point gap and valves
to be sure, but it could be the carbs are out of sync. slightly. One
side may be "leading" the other just enough to cause the "sneeze."
Cheers,
Charlie

My 71 always had this occasional snort or as Ian calls it, a sneeze at or near idle. Just part of the personality of the beast. Yesterday I noticed it did it lots more, again just at or off idle. At steady rpm above 2000 runs fine. My friend thought it could be valve clearance going out of adjustment. I last adjusted them 1100 miles ago. Is it time? I checked point gap about 200 miles ago Any thoughts. ???? Thanks all |
