Tom,
There is a primer that is specificly made for painting chrome. It is used
alot by the guys that paintt the bumpers on their autos to match the color
of the car. I puchsed
a spray can of it from Space age paints in Mesa. I think I may have some
left and I can bring it to the Euro bike show Sunday if you plan on being
there.
My findings was I had to use very light coats and allow substantial drying
time between coats otherwise it wanted to lift with the masking tape. I used
400 grit sandpaper to prep the surface prior to paint.
My battery side covers were completely chrome when I purchasd my police
eldo. I didn't care to much for the look
so I painted the area behind the sidecover louvers to better match the paint
scheme of the bike. I also pinstriped around
the painted area to kinda/sorta match the factory pinstriped
gas tank.
