Jim,
I'm going by memory here. I had an Ambo in 1971, then bought an early Eldo in Oct 72. The Ambo was comparable to any other 750 of those days, except the Honda four. The Eldo was noticeably quicker, and was very good a two up hauling. I used to take the wife camping going up into the Sierras of California. That Eldo tackled the grades without hesitation.
The Eldo wouild also pop a wheelie going into second gear if I was on it hard, and I recall that I used to come up on the freeway at 75 in third gear, and look for some "hot" car to get along side before shifting to fourth and fifth.
My 69 Ambo does fine on the flats, but struggles in the hills. Unfortunately the gas here in Southern Nevada is very bad, so I lose a lot of power. When I go into AZ or California, it improves a lot.

Perhaps my last question didn't make it to the list...
Could someone who has ridden both the 750 and 850 loop frame bikes give me
an objective opinion as to how well each does at highway speeds assuming two
up loaded. My old 700 would do 70 two up but it sure didn't like it.
