A cheap bench grinder, some wheels and compound go a long way to get and keep things well polished if you're so inclined. I have all of the engine covers on my Ducati Pantah motored Alazzurra buffed to what some have mentioned look 'show' quality with just that setup. It's not that hard, just takes time and I probably only have about $100 in my setup including materials. I guess you figured out that I am getting frustrated with polishing out mine. I can't ever seem to get the same results by hand that a buffing wheel can get and I can't pay $100.00 every time I want a professional shine. May send them off after this riding season.
