Hi David,
The tension was fine, but with only one shim between the pulley halves. Doesn't leave much room for adjustment. The belt I described was listed in the "Tips" book #1 as one for an Eldo only. Ambos do indeed use a different belt. Personally, I'll cough up the bucks and buy one from MG Cycle, that way there is no guessing. We only used the NAPA/Gates belt because we were going to the WV Rally in two days. Cheers,

Using a belt that is 780mm may prevent proper tensioning and/or slippage. I'm not sure if the pulleys and adjustments can adequately handle more than 1" in extra belt length. My concern would be that if you can't tension the extra length, it will go somewhere when in motion, probably slapping around or rubbing things under the pulley cover that it is not supposed to. (you know the more I read this the worse it sounds, but I can't think of any other way to word it.)
