Hi All,
I was out in the shed looking at my Ambo frames the other day and
noticed one doesn't have a sidestand bracket and has the reinforced
gussets. Okay so I have a police frame from Pat's description. So now I
have to make a choice, do I:
A) build it up with a police sidestand and left crashbar, rear
crashbars, solo seat
and luggage rack
B) weld on a sidestand tab, put on a civilian sidestand and crashbars,
no rear
crashbars, and dual seat.
C) a mixture of A & B?
And here I thought my decisions were over! Your opinions and thoughts
will be appreciated! Cheers,
Charlie

This is one of the few differences between a civilian frame and a true police frame. They are not identical frames with just some different wiring. (Another is the little welded lug on the lower left rail for the tiny civilian sidestand.) The police frame has this frame gusset hole in place AS WELL as a thicker strip of metal bracing behind the gusset. I guess that makes it stronger and harder to bend the whole frame in a low side crash. I did this same hole on my 73 civilian to add rear bars. Worked great for years. Don't know who has it now.
