I found out many years ago, the hard way, that many of us are not physically
suited to ride the "cruiser" style. In 1970 I had an Ambo with short
European bars, and it was so comfortable, that I could ride out the 6 gallon
tank, fill it without getting off, and ride some more. When I bought a new
Eldo, in '72, I had the dealer put on police bars (known as cowhorns in
those days). The first time I tried to ride a long distance, I figured they
must have made the seat differently, because I could only ride a short
distance before my ass hurt.
Now, of course, I know that the seat was identical. It was my changed
position, requiring me to sit upright on my tail bone that caused the
problem. If I can sit with a slight forward lean, resting my weight on my
thighs, I can ride for a long time, without discomfort.
The cruiser style forces you to sit in an unnatural position, leaning back
on your tailbone. If you get a form fitted seat, you will alleviate some of
the problem, but not all of it.
