david,
I have a '69 ambo with single lever shift. Would you be interested
in a trade?

I thought that was an original idea of mine and asked Cycle Garden to do it for me. They didn't follow up so I let it lie. I was wondering if there was a left side gearshift lever made for the loopframes that was not heel and toe. I have big feet and have been known to accidentally knock the bike out of gear with my heel. I suppose I could take a hacksaw to mine but that seems so -- barbaric. I hope to have progress pics this weekend. I can't let the new arrivals grab all the limelight.
