Subject: Crummy runski
To all who replied to my inquiry about crummy running. It was the right
carb pilot jet. I felt as if it had to be either spark or fuel related.
When I had convinced myself that it wasn't the distributor, spark plug.coil
wires, I checked the airbox and the float bowls. Figured if it ran well
above 3,000rpm but badly at low rpm, it had to be the idle circuit. Checked
left carb first and checked all jets and the slide in the process. Left
carb fine. Checked right, and the last jet I pulled, the pilot jet, was
clogged. Cleaned it and replaced it and the bike ran fine. Never having
had this happen before, I am amazed at how badly the bike ran with one pilot
jet clogged. Thanks to all who offered suggestions.

. If yer getting spark at the right time
it's either fuel (gas and air, carbs etc.) or compression (rings valves pistons). Drain the fuel and carb bowls. Fill'r up with good stuff. Check the carbs for crap and rustboogers. Make sure the fuel flows through to the carbs by opening the petcock with the bowls off... nice even flowage... enough to burn the garage down fairly quickly. |
Good luck ... let us know what the final final is. HDot |
