A few months ago I was screwin' around with my carbs. The little
square end ended up breaking off the float needle. Knowing my buddy
Kevin ordered two brand new ones, I was going to pilfer one for my bike.
I looked everywhere for em'. called Kevin to ask him to look at his
house. He showed up later to report that nothing was found. We tore the
garage apart, looked in every corner, bag and box. Nothing. The things
just vanished. for the first time I really stared to believe in
Gremlins.
I took one of his out of his carbs(YES, he knew about it, his wasn't
runnin' yet) shoved it into mine and off I went.
I ordered a new float needle, overnight, to replace the one I
stole.Shipping cost more than the part, but who cares, I was riding.
That week or so we got his Eldo(Mr. 1st place Eldo)up and running. He
decided to run the open K & N filters he had instead of the airbox(key
point)260 trouble free miles, highway, sideroads, ect. trouble free.
This past Saturday night, we we're just getting off the freeway when
Kev dropped a cyl. We pullover to take a look, nothing obvious.
I was thinkin' that it seemed as though something was clogging the
airflow but couldn't understand how something that big could get into
the carb body past the filters. After limpin' it back to the garage, we
looked at the plugs, perfect tan color. Compression test said 155 each
side. Had spark. Left us with fuel problem. Which anouther pal said he
thought he smelled gas.
I was goig to tell you what it was but I figure I'll let you guys
figure it out. I don't have a cool shirt to give ya like dave, or
anything eles for that matter. Just my praise if you get it. Let me know
what you think.
Yes we did figure it out and were back on the road that night.
