Another means of oil getting in there is thru the valve guides. I
hear-tell that the older guides are more prone to wear than the newer ones.

Trying to figure out a cheap fix for the oil getting to the topside of the LH piston. Did a compression check yesterday, good news with both sides at 160 psi (cold) so I am assuming that the chrome is not flaked off and that the oil rings are the problem and are not expanding like they should. Changed oil and added a pint of detergent additive hoping that will free up the rings. If this doesn't work, I'll have to do some surgery. Anybody else have experience with stuck oil rings ? |
