Ian,
Naw, I don't think there is, Just wear and tear along with age is what seems
to do it. Maybe a bit o'luck. Replaced one a few years ago on a buddy's Cal.
went pretty smooth. Although I worked at a shop then. Had it easy(table
lift, air, ect.)I'll be doing mine in the garage, on the ground.
Yeah, crammin'on the shifter might speed it along, but I still believe it's
mostly age. Haven't heard of any sort of preventive maintenance for it, just
one of those things.
Cheers,
Kev

Kev,
Yer scaring me man! I was thinking the same thing as I was riding to the
WNYR.....how I haven't had any trouble with the return spring either...even
after all the talk on the list.
I guess I should prepare myself.......it will happen! I'm starting to sound
like this guy I met at the rally....a self proclaimed "moto hypocondriac"
:-)
By the way...any way to prevent/prolong the inevitable? I'm pretty easy with
the shifting.
Good luck with the fix.....Ian
p.s. my generator is about to break too :-)

Shifted fine for years, rode around after work, rush hour. I got home and as I left to leave again, BAM That little bubble of bad bike luck landed right on the back of my trans. Darn. Well, I have been riding the piss out of the thing, trying to work out any bugs in her. Kev |
