I received my parts from Mark today and of course had to spend the night
installing them. After replacing the front break cable the bike finally
stops an order of magnitude better than the old 57 triumph the bike
replaced. I also fixed a few optional pieces of equipment like the speedo
by replacing the drive cable. Best of all the old cheap and loud mufflers
are replaced with wonderful stainless peashooters. This last improvement
has opened a few concerns though. Now that I will actually be able to
hear a difference when the exhaust header nut falls out (although I have
frame clamps so this won't be an issue any more) there are a lot of new
noises. Over the carb noise caused by the K&N filters you can now hear
valve noise and gear noise. I assume the gear noise is from the timing
gears and being strait cut should be rather noisy but what is a "Normal"
amount of valve noise. I should adjust the tappets but if these motors
are typically ticky I don't want to tear into them.
Thanks in advance,
Greg

P.S. Not only does the bike run better with the new mufflers but also I
can now hear the girls scream as I ride by :)
