| I found a Group 55 at the local K-Mart ( AC Delco 556YR ) for around $60.00. Just file away the bottom 4 corner ribs and it is a perfect fit without bending or breaking off the tabs on the tray.
On a separate note, when static timing the ignition, the manuals I have say there is a second mark on the timing chest cover that is supposed to align with the second mark from the left on the pulley. I have been timing the points to open when this second mark on the pulley is on the arrow. Is this wrong or am I missing something. Neither of my Eldo's have this mark that I can see. The bike was running rich (black smoke ) and now won't start at all. I want to make sure the timing is correct before I mess with the carbs.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Bob,
They will know what it is, just ask for a Group 55 battery. It is the smallest car battery available, so call before you go, they may not have
one in stock. I got mine from an auto parts store, Carquest, they had one in stock. Was fun squeezing her in there, but she will fit. This didn't solve my hesitation during cranking though, I got a new starter for that, just installed it the other eve but have not completed the hook up yet, will probably work on her tonight.
Good Luck,

| Keith, Pulled this e-mail from my files. Where did you find your Group 55 battery? If I go into a Sears, or where ever and ask for a "group 55" are they going to know what I'm asking for? Or do I just ask for a battery that has 500 cold cranking amps?
