Hi Everyone
I had a great time racing the old V-700 this past weekend. This being only
the second time to ride the bike, I was able to get the jetting & suspension
dialed in better. The biggest improvement came when I ditched the K&Ns & put
on velocity stacks.

We had a great race on Sunday, the old bike did great, swapping the lead in
our class 4 times with a breathed on BMW 750 being ridden by my buddy Walt.
But in the end he beat me by a bike length. Walt's BMW has a cam, ported
heads, disk front end & a five speed gear box, so I was very happy to give
him a run & take 2nd with the stock V-700.

Monday I was very tired but practice went well. In our race, I stayed on
Walt's tail for about three laps but I was not riding well. After sliding the
bike in the carousel, I realized it was either slow down or get pitched off
on my head. I went into self preservation mode & tried to hold on to second.
I watched Walt pull away gaining about 2 to 3 bikes lengths each lap. On the
last lap I missed a shift & a Suzuki got around me. I was over taking the
Suzuki heading down the front straight to the checkered flag but not quite
enough time, he past over the line no more than a foot in front of me. I
would have to settle on 3rd.

Stan's Moto Guzzi had a great showing taking 1st in both of his "Battle of
Twins F-2" races. Man is that bike & rider are fast.

I saw several Guzzi's at the track but only got a chance to speak with a
couple of Guzzi people. Everyone please feel free to swing by the pits &
introduce yourself.

Thanks to Gordon at MG Cycle & Mike Skaggs, I may have the 750 motor ready &
a disk front end on the bike in time for "Mid Ohio." The next improvement I
want to make is a 5 speed gear box. (hint, hint anyone have one they will
sell me for a reasonable price)

Take care
Ken
