My Ambo is a civilian model, consequently I don't have the mounting hardware for the windscreen and lightbar, which are items that I would like to add to the bike. I am wondering how the original windscreen and lightbar were attached. I read somewhere that they had a bracket(s) which mounted under the fork tube top plugs and that the instrument nacelle was filed or milled (sacrilege) to allow the brackets to stick out and support the windscreen. I presume that the lower support was probably held by the lower triple tree clamp bolts. Anybody got a picture of how this all fit together? The net is full of side and rear view photos, but I can't find a one that clearly shows how this stuff was mounted to the forks.
Other questions: 1) I see that MG Cycles has windscreens w/brackets that simply clamp on to the fork shrouds near the top. Any comments on how well these work and their cosmetic appearnace?
2) Are there options for using other light bars besides the original LAPD style Guzzi ones? There are some neat looking retro style kits out there for HD's and Hondas. Anybody come up with a way to graft one onto an Ambo without it looking like a Rube Goldberg contraption?
BTW, if anybody would like to take a look at what I started with before the restoration project began check out this link:
