Keith,
Here's my question: What is a needle bearing? |
The only difference between the needle and roller bearing is that the
"needle" bearing is like little needles rolling on their side in a cage as
opposed to "balls" rolling in a cage. Does that make sense.
I believe that in order to fit the Eldo type throwout bearing in the 4-speed
you will need to resize the opening in the tranny.
As far as I am concerned I think that you will be fine with the old type
bearing for sometime. Maybe worth stocking a spare though so when you need
to change it after 100,000 miles you won't have to look too hard for it :-)
Hey Ian, believe you told me that lots of folks pointed this out to you - that your bike looked great except for the unpainted starter - that has been in my mind since we spoke about it. What did you do? |
Yeah...there was no way that I was going to roll the bike out of the garage
this spring without having that dam starter painted. Had I not done that no
one would have noticed my new funky driving lights :-)
All I did was spray on some Rustoleum metal paint (bright pink:-)). I can't
say whether the stuff will last or not. Looks like it adhered ok though. Not
sure about the heat of the starter causing it to bubble. If it does I will
get some BBQ paint.
Till then the paint job looks great and no one points out the ugly starter
when I am showing them my new lights :-)
By the way. What kind of starter do you have on the bike? A Bosch? The older
Loops used Marellis. I think yours will be a Bosch though.
Look for my "My First Guzzi" article in the MGNOC within the next few |
I'll be looking forward to your article in the near future. I really liked
the "My First Guzzi" stories in the newsletter. I just submitted an article
called Guzzi Memories 2000. Look for it in the Feb issue.
Regards....Ian
