It is an emulsion of oil and water. (Like milk is an emusion of animal fat
and water). It is much more common in cold and wet times like winter. It is
generally harmless. BUT, it can be a symptom that you are running the engine
for short intervals, inadequately heating, and failing to drive out
combustion moisture byproducts. It can be a good place to trap acids which
eat metals.
Change your oil and run the engine harder and longer to cook this stuff out.
If you need to make short trips like local commutes, get a scooter which
heats up fast or has no value to you. I own six Guzzis, but commute daily on
an 80cc scooter. The ride is 3 miles with a max posted speed of 35mph. Such
a ride regimen would soon dissolve a beautiful Guzzi motor. I don't give a
rats ass if the little Honda dissolves away. Sometimes I ride a Guzzi, but
it usually takes me 40 miles to get back home. :-)
