Sealing is a great way to prevent leaks and keep the tank from rusting.
I used the Eastwood sealer kit and it worked great. (www.eastwood.com)
If you do this, remember that the chemicals used are NASTY! Do it outside
and wear gloves, goggles, and a respirator mask. Get a cople of rubber
stoppers for the petcock holes.
Muriatic acid removes rust and must be done to insure the sealer sticks to
the tank good.
Rinse it real good with water.
Use acetone to remove the water (most sealers use acetone as the evaporate,
so acetone will also remove sealer along with paint). In my case the
acetone was used to remove the old sealer which didn't stick to
the tank, 'cos it wasn't done right in the first place.
It is prefrrable to seal a tank BEFORE it is painted...if you are sealing a
painted tank, be Really careful not to get anything on the paint.
Follow the directions well...you don't want to have to do this again.
