I joined a few weeks ago, having just acquired a '73 Eldo in need of TLC.

Progress reports;

The clocks were horrible--I found some NOS ones from a fellow listee. The
look and work great, except the tach which is quite erratic. The bike has
a lot more power since I tuned it, alhtough is tough to get
started. Suspect the points have slipped.

The oil lite wouldn't come on and when I replace the socket, it wouldn't
go off. Works fine after also replacing the sending unit.

The horn was missing and both brake swithes were bad. Rewired and
installed a horn and fixed both brake switches, DPO had the horn wiring
attached to the front brake switch.

Installed turn signal brackets and repop Lucas signals which look very
good. As someone mentioned the left 3 position switch is a lighting
switch and I didn't feel like tearing into it to modify it. The signals
are wired and working but awaiting a switch--I'm fabbing one from Radio
Shack. I know lots of people use old Japanese switch clusters, but it
looks to me like you'd have to also buy new levers in order to be able to
reach the switches. I sure like the look of the Lucas stuff. Classic,
but very functional.

Has anyone sent their brakes to Vintage Brake to have them reworked? The
fronts work OK but the _feel_ is so spongy.

A fun bike to ride...
