1st, thanx all for the info/responses on the rear driveshaft boot. I
called the Guzzi mechanic and he got in touch with one of the vendors to
get a boot shipped ASAP, he originally ordered direct from Guzzi, wrong
move. Hopefully I'll get my 71 LAPD Ambo back this weekend.
On another note, I posted a message a few weeks ago about getting my
speedo repaired and got a few responses back on whom to call. The
speedo I have is actually the V700 style with the speed listed by 10's
(10-20-30-etc) on an outer ting and the needle and single mph segments
on the inner ring. The speedo works fine, but moisture evidently found
its way into the speedo and created a rust stain on the lower portion of
the outer ring. All I want to do is be able to get in there and clean
it off/touch up the black paint so it is not such an eyesore. The
places recommended to call came up with very high prices and long turn
arounds. Cheapest guy was $185, longest length of repair (Palo Alto)
was 8 weeks! Question is, can I get the chrome ring and glass off
without breaking it - how would I do it - or is there somebody else out
there that can clean up my speedo for much less than $185. Seems crazy
to spend that much money just to clean up a small spot on the outer
ring. May be stuck living with it but it really is an eye sore. Any
inputs/thoughts/advice?
Thanx!
