Jason, prolong is one of those chlorinated parrafins that sometimes get a bad
name. All I know is that my tranny has never shifted better. I first tried it
on an old triumph with a motor tranny that was well seasoned and wouldn't break
my heart if it locked up. To my surprise, the shifting improved about 50% and
the engine ran smoother and go about 3mpg better. I then bput it in a 97
blazer (tranny, engine and rear end) Mileage increased 3-4 mpg. I never had
any adverse effects ecept with seals. In some cases, it caused slightly
increased seal weapage, not leaking but about 2x what a seal usually allows
past it. Pretty minor trade off to me. In my 72 eldo, in improved the
shifting about 20% i'd say., especially when coming to a stop and having to
change gears. Perhaps some others have other expereinces with prolong. Always
open to hear.
Tom,
72 eldo police and hope3fully a tr6 soon

 Hey,
With my '74 eldo, I use Mobil one down the line: engine, transmission, rear
drive. Uh, don't use engine oil in the transmission, though. So far no
leaks, no problems (after maybe 5K miles). BTW, Tom Emerson, or some other
soul in the know, what's prolong? Sounds like something you'd buy at the
pharmacy :) I assume its a slippery Molybdenum additive of some sort.
Hmmm, so does that...
I can't really say that the Mobil is any better than Castrol, which I run
in my Tonti frame. Both bikes seem to run and shift just fine. I thought
for awhile that the Mobil made my (850) engine louder, but I suspect I
really just set my valves a little loose.

Cheers,
Jason
