I am in, I was planning to do it anyway, I will have a truck with trailer,
and
a 100% tool and part inventory, I hope to have my wife drive it, but I'll
hire
someone to if I have to, I will of course be on a loop frame. We need to
start
planning just as Mike said. I think we should plan on several days there
and
back so we don't have to kill ourselves. (I want to enjoy not Ironize my
butt).

I will provide a complete rolling shop with everything possible to fix a
loopframe, even spare engines and transmissions, tires, tubes, air
comperssor,
generator, power tools etc.

CA or Bust! (IF BUST WE FIX) 2001!

ANYONE KNOW THE DATE AND LOCATION YET?

Hi Charlie,

I enjoyed meeting you too.

Where abouts do you live? I have been thinking about riding to the
National
next year. I called my run to Virginia a pilgrimage this year. I don't
see
why I can't run across the country next year under the same pretense.
This
year's experience was truly enlightening.

OK...so how would we do this? Assuming that I can get the time off....I
would like to plan this as an event to enjoy. So that means no 1000 mile
iron butts. Nice rides through the country with manageble distances. I
guess
that maybe I am not being realistic in this regard. After all we would
be
riding over 2000 miles and amny can't get the time off.

What I would like to do is to have the route preplanned so that people
could
join in with us as we made our way across the country. Can you imagine
the
group growing as we moved across the continent (army music playing in
the
backgroud :-)). We could even have a supply truck follow us. We could
all
chip in an pay for the gas. I would happily chip in just to have the
bike
without its load of gear not to mention the spare parts and fuel.

Of course we are a long way away from the event but I think it is good
to
start talking (dreaming) about it now. Maybe instead of having a
Loopframe
meet we could have a Loopframe "tour"? What do you think O'Master Guzzi
Guru?

Keep dreaming....now I really have something to look forward to :-)

Ian

p.s. I posted this to the Loopframe list so that we could get some
preliminary suggestions.

Hi Ian,
Yes, I started thinking about this even before the National. A friend
writes for
the Martinsburg (WV) Journal and is on a "one-lap" of the USA on his
'74
Eldo (4
shoe front brake, Amal carbs). His column is in every Sunday titled
"National
Rambler" by Dan Friend. He mentions the Guzzi quite a lot, such as the
time
he
hauled fire wood stacked on the seat higher than him seated on the
bike -
other
campers at Yellowstone looking on in amazement. In the last column, he
has
just
replaced the timing chain in his motel parking lot and headed east
through
AZ.
His exploits have encouraged me to go west, as I have been no farther
west
than
Cincinnati,OH. At this point the plan is if I can build up a fresh
engine
and
tranny by then I'll go (if not may still go but by BMW R100RS or
train). It
would be great to get a group of Loopers together and ride enmass!
Imagine
the
looks we would get! Anywho, it was very nice meeting you and hope to
see
you
again. Later!

Charlie
