Hi Mike,
That little screw is the mixture screw. It is what you use to make fine
adjustments once you have set your idle and balanced your carbs.
Gas shold not come out of those screws since the float level should be below
that screw hole. I would check to make sure that your float is ok and that
the inlet valve is ok.
If the float level is too high then that could be causing your cylinders to
be running poorly.
