Greetings Fellow Loopers, A neighbor friend has always wanted a Harley, but has now fallen in love with my 71 LAPD Ambo and WANTS IT BAD! He offered to give me a few hundred more than I have invested in it because he likes it that much. He is an ATF employee (alchohol, tobacco, and firearms) and loves the police look of this machine with the springer seat, spotlights, etc.. I however, being a BMW convert, have also fallen in love with the looks and sound of this machine. The bike is at the Guzzi mechanic getting all tuned up/checked over top to bottom, so I I can't give too much feedback on the ride, other than it seemed rock solid, brakes weren't that awfull, rear brakes were very good. Only complaint I have which will be remedied when I get her back (will re-install the police windshield), is the terrible wind that makes you grip the handles bars real tight when riding on the highway. I have always had some sort of cafe or full fairing on my bikes in the past to deflect the wind. The wind blasting my chest on the highway while riding to the Guzzi shop was terrible. I bow down to those that ride with no wind protection on long highway rides, especially those Harley guys with ape bars - go figure! Anyways, now that I have gotten off track, let me get back to my question. I do not plan to sell my 71 LAPD Ambo in the near future, so my neighbor, now a Moto Guzzi convert from a Harley fan (AMEN!), wants me to keep an eye out for him for a similar Guzzi. I saw in the MGNOC a 76 Convert in Philly that "needs some work". Am checking into it for him, but was wondering if y'all had any feedback on this bike for me/my neighbor? Any info would be appreciated. Not sure if he will like the looks as much, but I think he could probably modify it a bit to make it look like one of the police version converts. Thanx!
