Hello Gang,
Well, sorry for starting this whole huge discussion a few days ago,
never thought it would take off as it has. I love the looks of the
white walls on these machines, but there are a few factors and opinions
that are leading me to keep my new Conti K112 blackwalls.
1. The tire warehouse I bought the Conti's from would take them back
for swap with a 10% re-stock fee, plus I pay shipping back to them. Not
a problem.
2. When I told them I was looking for the Dunlop K177, he told me he
wouldn't sell me that "piece of @#%$!!", that the tire was no more than
a low standard tire with a whitewall thrown on as a marketing factor for
the Honda Aero Shadow. Pretty negative comments from this guy about
this tire.
3. I don't want to switch to a 16 inch rear tire at this time.
4. Have read the discussion about running one of the tires in the
opposite direction and how it performed OK, but as one of you fellow
loopers said, you always have that in the back of your mind that one of
your tires is backward.
5. A few of you said to keep the original classic look of the
blackwall, OEM look, point well taken. Mark at MG Classics also said
the whitewalls are a pain to keep clean and they will clash with my
white fenders if the shades of white are different. Another point well
taken.
Bottom line, if I had a better feeling about the quality of tire and
that I didn't have to switch the rear rim or reverse the direction the
one of the tires, I would no question run the whitewalls. But knowing I
would be giving up quality of the tire (plus spending more money to get
them), and possibly a safety issue by running the tire in reverse
direction, I plan to stick with the blackwall Conti's. Perhaps when I
am ready to replace these tires, some other good name brand tire
companies will come up with a high quality white wall tire.
Thanx All for the discussion and feedback!

Bill, thanks for the info. I do remember paying 160 for the pair at the Honda dealer in OKC. How did the 16" effect your gearing and rpm at road speed? Tom guzzi-@aol.com wrote:
