Scott,
This is kinda off subject but you expressed the reason why I will be
moving back to Spain to retire after the military. The Spanish people are
the same way, maybe a bonus on being able to find old Guzzi Parts :-)

Are you back on this side of the pond? How was the trip? Tell us all
about
 what
you picked up (Moto Guzzi wise) while in Italia :-)

Just to remind you...the National is in a couple of weeks and there will
be
 a big
contingent of Loopframes there. Are you coming? I could meet you at
whereever our
paths would cross.

Hiya Ian!

Yep, back in town again. The only things I picked up in Italy were 3
armed
forces pins from WW2, probably. Im really not a pin collector, but they
were
cheap and cool. One is a set of silver wings just like on a Guzzi. I think
they are from the Air Corp. The second is a flag with a small eagle on it
and
the other says Stormo with a attacking eagle. I think its a stormtrooper
badge. Other then that, all I saw were Guzzis on the roads. There were
plenty of them. It just gave me goosebumps, seeing them all over the
place,
kinda like seeing Harleys all over in the states. You know they just
belong
there. I also saw numerous Ducatis and Jap bike crotch rockets. The thing
I
saw most with 2 wheels, were the scooters. They are very economical,
especially when youre paying 4$ to 4.50$ a gallon for gas. The police are
no
joking matter in Italy. They are just trying to adopt the helmet law in
Italy
and as far as I can tell, about half wear them. The last day I was there,
there was a incidence with a 17 year old kid, that was not wearing a
helmet.
Im not clear on the details, but he tried to flee and they shot and killed
him. The next day, there was a protest (riot) at one of the autostrada
tollbooths, where a couple of the people I work with, got caught in the
middle of.
The italians are a very passionate people and very expressive. They are
extremely family oriented and most very friendly, which I wish Americans
would follow their example. I suppose they are comparable to how the
family
here used to be in the 50's.
I wish I could make it to the National. My vacation was all used up in
Italy because I dont get paid from my Railroad job, while Im active duty.
My
days off are Tues and Wed, so I dont get to any rallies anymore. Maybe
next
year. What about the Iowa rally? Did you make it? I havent made a rally
for 2
 years now, Im gettin withdrawls.

Scott
