My brake is a true thing of joy! Works better than stock by a long shot (not
hard to beat, ehh)? I also have floorboards on my eldo and was pissed that
the original pedal design put the footpad in the middle of the floorboard so
you had to slide your foot back from under it then raise up and step down.
well no more! I took a second brake peddle and cut the footpad with about
four inches of arm attached off. then I cut the footpad off of my original. I
ground a bevel on each and off to the welder I went. I had my welder build
the weld up higher than flush so I could sculpt the area to a smooth flowing
taper with a file later. when I was satisfied with the shape I smoothed
things up with sandpaper. I then went to the local H/D shop and bought a kuri
Akin (sp?) brake footpad (chrome and three rubber strips) I carefully
drilled and taped a hole that went into the bent part of the arm that
supports the original foot pad. after I got the new lengthened brake pedal
back from the chrome shop I installed the custom footpad over the original
and put in on the eldo. all I can tell you is the footpad is in front and
just above the end of the floorboard ( were it should have been all along)
and works great. I had to make my own linkage from hiem joints and a chrome
brake rod (all from the local H/D shop) . It was a small progect but the most
satisfing as it turned out perfect -in looks as well as function.
