Sounds like a good idea!!! I think I will try it, too......having broken my
share of those things!

Subject: Ambo throttle cable problem
Hi, all. I thought I'd send a note regarding my solution to a throttle cable problem. I have broken a few throttle cables, and was concerned about all the motion of the cable on my Ambo when I twist the throttle: the cable moves so much that it is at more then a 45 degree angle to the throttle assembly. I am thinking that the inner cable is rubbing against the metal end pretty heavily, which is why the cables are only lasting me 6,500 miles. I hope I have solved the problem: I used a 1/4" drill and doubled the depth of the passage that the cable end goes into in the throttle assembly. Now the cable sheath stays in position, lined up with ball-end and the whole throttle assemble. I think this will lessen the amount of contact between the inner cable and the edges of the small whole in the cable end. Throttle action is noticeably smoother. We'll see if the cable lasts longer. Perhaps this will be of use to someone else. -Mike (69 Ambo) ===== M.Jones, student of philosophy and religion at Temple University, |
